Dino Pop.

I love how wonderfully tacky Seaside resorts are. The mix of the nature of the beach with the completely man-made Amusements and hot dog/candy floss stands defies comprehension. I can never understand why people decide to come on holiday to these places, as while I find them fascinating I wouldn't want to spend two weeks of my summer here, slotting pennies into fruit machines and eating Mr. Whippy. Surely a day trip would be enough?

These sorts of surroundings make me think about 1950's teddy boys, and proper old school rock n roll.  Its as if the bright lights and golden sands hide a dirtier, seamier underground where people struggle to make ends meet and take solace in music, drinking and getting into scuffles. It's like Grease, but without the pink and poodle skirts (I'm thinking Sandy post make over). These fictional characters live for the weekend, when they can go out swing dancing, smoke fags and not get up until noon. Their outfits make it abundantly clear they are not tourists, and even on the brightest of days they sport a leather jackets, and jeans, never giving in to the sunshine, longing for the cold, dark nights.
